On 14 December 2022, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) celebrated the fifth anniversary since it established its Centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics in The Hague.  

UNICRI and the European Union Counter-Terrorism Coordinator (EU CTC) held a closed online expert-level meeting to discuss security threats in Afghanistan and their implications for Central Asia and beyond on 1 December 2022.

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) today launched a two-year project to build gender-sensitive resilience to violent extremism in the Sahel, through a strong partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).  

Delegates from the Republic of Kenya and UNICRI met in Geneva on 30 November 2022 on the side lines of the Ninth Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention to discuss new areas of cooperation in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) risk mitigation.

The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Kenya’s National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Walter Oyawa and discussed two new areas of cooperation.

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) held the first peer-to-peer workshop on regional cooperation mechanisms in Southeast Asia for intelligence and law enforcement officers from Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Philippines in Phnom Penh from 21 to 22 November 2022.

Friday 18 November marks the first World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence. 

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) commends the creation of the day as a significant step in addressing a horrific and growing global phenomenon that affects the world’s most vulnerable population.
